  • More

    • Change on the fly. There is no horn to designate team line changes. Teams will change on the fly as they please.
    • Teams will keep the same side the whole game. In the playoffs the higher seed team is designated the home team.
    • Penalty Shots will be assessed for penalties. After the penalty shot, the play is dead, and the defending team may continue to play after the puck is taken back behind the net. The offensive team must retreat to the top of the circles. If the game clock expires after a penalty is called, the penalty shot will still take place.
    • Both teams must clear away for penalty shot. The puck must be taken behind the net by the defending team and the offensive team must retreat past the top of the circles after shot is taken.
    • No body checking at any age group. Will be considered a minor penalty and will result in penalty shot.
    • During warmups, teams must stay on their half of the zone. Pucks will be provided for teams during warmups.
    • If a puck goes out of play, the last team to touch the puck will lose possession. Referee will deem whose puck it is and where it will start from. During re-start the defender must give his opponent 2-stick lengths of space.
    • There are no icing calls. Play stops only for a penalty shot, goal, or saves by the goalie.
    • Players must change from near the wall of their defending net. Players are not allowed to change from middle of zone.
    • The only faceoffs are the 2 opening faceoffs of each period. After a goal is scored or goalie freezes the puck, the offensive team must retreat past the top of the circles mark of the zone. The defensive team should retrieve puck from their net or goalie and re-start play ASAP.
    • No checking or slapshots
    • Minor penalties will be resolved with a penalty shot. Penalty shot will be taken right away.
    • Major penalties, fighting or any team misconduct on or off the ice will result in that player or team’s disqualification from remainder of tournament. If a player is disqualified for a major penalty, the opposing team will receive 5 penalty shots as a result. A team disqualification will result in forfeiting that game and all remaining games.
    • Abuse of officials (by player, coach, parent) will result in a major penalty against that team. If by a coach or parent, the whole team will be disqualified from tournament. If by a player, that player will be disqualified from the tournament and opposing team awarded a penalty shot.
    • Divisions may be combined to accommodate teams
    • Teams are responsible for their own matching jerseys. Using association names and jerseys are discouraged. Teams select jersey color at sign up or have 2 different color jerseys to use. Jerseys do NOT have to have numbers on the back but MUST be matching. Mismatching jerseys are not acceptable. Contact us if your team needs help with jerseys.
    • All players must be registered with USA Hockey
    • All players must wear full protective hockey equipment.
    • After the team scores or the goalie covers the puck, all offensive players team must touch back beyond the top of the circles and the defensive team must skate the puck behind their own net.
    • All teams must be ready to play 15 minutes before scheduled time. Games could start up to 15 minutes earlier than scheduled time.
    • Teams are required to arrive on the ice ON TIME for their scheduled games. If a team is late on the ice for the start of their game, the team late to the ice will be penalized. The opposing team which is on time and on the ice will receive 1 goal for each minute the opposing team is late on the ice after the game clock has started.
    • The tournament team formation rules are provided with the intent of creating parity among divisions. The tournament director may use their discretion to relax these rules and ensure that kids can have fun and play.
    • Referees must ensure the game score is accurate.  It is up to the referees to communicate the final score to the official scorekeeper in the scorebox.
    • Referees will be available and enforce USAH rules with the exception of the above.
